The Montessori Method was developed by Italian physician Dr. Maria Montessori. She began her first “Children’s House,” or “Casa dei Bambini,” in 1907 and developed special material to teach these children.  We use these didactic materials to teach our very own special children in our Montessori school today!

Dr. Montessori’s research, observation, and experience led her to create a philosophy that holds at its core a deep respect for children and their ability to learn. She believed that children should have beautiful, peaceful environments in which to learn. Montessori children learn in multi-aged classrooms, where they can interact with others of various developmental stages. These classrooms offer hands-on experiences with a variety of cognitive material which foster academic learning as well as social/emotional practice.
